We’ve scored an absolute hole in one with Bunkers Golf Society! We'd like to say a huge thank you to them for choosing us as their Captain’s Charity for 2019! In 2012 Bunkers Golf Society was set up and through their love of the game they find the best golf deals and packages for their members. This year they are going to be fundraising for us at their 16 days out, their end of season trip and any social events they hold throughout the season. To keep up to date with how Bunkers are getting on be sure to keep an eye on our website and Facebook page or visit them at https://www.bunkersgolfsociety.com/
Huge thanks to Amanda and all her colleagues at TEP - The Environment Partnership. They are pictured here presenting a cheque to our trustee Frank after making us their charity for the year. Massive thanks to Gillian Macklin-Percy, her aunty Dot and Mum who raised a tinseltastic £260 at the Christmas fayre at Swanside Community Centre. If you missed a chance to get some Christmas gifts they will also be at the Court Hey Methodist Church table Top sale on Saturday, 24th November, so why not pop along and say hi!
Starting on the 1st December you can walk, dance or run your way to a million steps in 100 days and help us and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre & Charity raise £100,00 for a new cancer unit in Liverpool for Teenagers and Young Adults.
You need to take at least 10,000 steps a day to reach your million and can record your progress using a Fitbit, pedometer or smartphone.
If 10,000 steps a day seems a bit much for one person, then why not make it a family or workplace challenge and split the steps between you to reach your goal.
It's free and easy to sign up, just call 0151 556 5566 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for your free fundraising guide and set up your Virgin Money Giving page to start raising funds!
If you would like to strut your steps in one of our lovely Bloom t-shirts or send us your photographs to help keep your fellow steppers motivated, then please email us at email@example.com or message us on Facebook.
Before you get stepping, you’ll receive your free fundraising guide (available soon!), it's packed with fundraising tips, advice on increasing your steps, a handy log to record your activity and that all important sponsor form.
Why take part?
Not only will you be moving towards a healthier you, but you'll be helping two of Merseyside & Cheshire's best loved charities.
Last year, treatment for solid tumour cancers and blood cancers were brought together in Liverpool for the first time. Now, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is building a brand new cancer hospital in the heart of the city.
Many teenagers and young people are affected by blood cancers, so we've teamed up with Clatterbridge to fund a brand new unit at the hospital for these patients. It'll be a dedicated space for youngsters to receive their cancer treatment, with access to the facilities and services they need, specialist staff and a space where they can chill out and socialise with people their own age.
But we need your help! Every step is a step closer to that £100,000 we need to build this incredible unit.
Our lovely craft ladies from St Anne's will be selling their gorgeous creations and raising funds for Bloom this Saturday, 1st December. So why not head along to St Margaret's School, Aigburth Road where you can pick up some lovely personal gifts or some of our fantastic Christmas cards.
We are thrilled to be joining forces with CCC in a bid to raise £100,000 for the Teenage & Young Adult (TYA) unit at Liverpool’s first cancer hospital. Due to the risk of infection after treatment, young patients can spend weeks in hospital. The TYA is a place they can go to relax, communicate with friends, through Skype and use the game consoles. Chris shares his story about his journey to diagnosis, treatment and the benefits of having access to the TYA.
If you would like to get involved and help raise funds for this fabulous project then please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
Dr James Austin, a post doctoral researcher in the University of Liverpool, recently received a Bloom Appeal travel grant. Here he is presenting his work on Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Well done James, we are sure your hard work was well received.
So pleased that our Christmas cards are being sold at the Liverpool Cathedral. Each pack contains 10 cards of one design. They are flying off the shelves here so if you fancy some then just message us.
On the 17th November Swanside Community Centre are having their Christmas Fayre. Pop in and say hi to Gillian and her family who are being fabulous and raising funds for us there selling lovely crafts, knitted items and things to get sorted for Christmas. 🎄🎅
Thank you to TEP from every one at Bloom.
It looks like you had a great day raising funds for us with your World Cup themed bake sale and games day.

Barbara is walking to raise money for the Bloom Appeal as a thank you to the teams who helped saved her life. Her aim is to raise enough money to contribute meaningfully to on-going research and care.
Barbara’s dog, Kiwi is also completing the walk to raise funds for her second charity, Animal Free Research UK. Barbara says, “I am painfully aware of the cost of my treatment to animal lives. I did not have the courage to refuse treatment for conscience sake but now want to help work towards a time when the use of live animals can be replaced by micro-technology and other alternatives”.

TEP is an award-winning consultancy providing multi-disciplinary environmental services to clients in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Each year TEP staff vote to support a specific charity and their chosen charity for 2018 is The Bloom Appeal, a charity close to their hearts. So far, TEP staff and their families have raised funds for The Bloom Appeal by taking part in the Liverpool Kids 1k and the Great North Run, abseiling from a crane at Newcastle Quayside, and holding a World Cup themed bake sale and games day.

We ❤️ seeing our blood cancer research scientists smile. They did today when the new light box arrived from us. We are very happy to say that for the next year we will be supporting our local Liverpool Blood Diseases Bank for leukaemia and lymphoma research. For nearly 30 years they have collected material from patients who have kindly donated samples for research. Biobank manager, Dr Melanie Oates (pictured) said that they are thrilled by the Bloom Appeal's support as the samples they collect are currently being used in approx 20 projects in the research labs. Also pictured are some of the items required to collect and process these samples.
This is Jenny. Jenny is an MLA Associate Practitioner in the Immunophentoyping Lab at the Royal. Every week they receive in excess of 100 patient samples and an average of 5 slides for each sample is stored. Part of Jenny's work is preparing the slides for curating and archiving. Its a big job but the Bloom Appeal has bought Jenny a machine that will help her lots so she can spend her time helping diagnose blood malignancies. Jenny is very happy...and so are we. Thanks to all our supporters who helped us help Jen!
